EMDR Therapy in Los Angeles, Orange County, and Throughout California

Do you feel stuck in the same emotional patterns, even though you’re high-functioning and accomplished?
Are you tired of managing anxiety, stress, or emotional overwhelm that seems to come out of nowhere?
Do you want to understand why your body and mind react the way they do—and finally find relief?

Many high-achieving professionals I work with notice that their anxiety, overthinking, or self-criticism is often connected to past experiences, even subtle or unrecognized trauma. EMDR therapy can help address these patterns so that you can feel more grounded, confident, and connected to yourself without needing to push harder or “do more.”

EMDR therapy may help you move forward.

EMDR Therapy for Trauma, Anxiety, and High-Functioning Stress

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy is an evidence-based approach that helps individuals process experiences that may be impacting their emotional, relational, or professional life. EMDR can be especially helpful if you:

  • Feel stuck in repetitive emotional or relational patterns

  • Experience anxiety, panic, or chronic stress despite “having it together”

  • Notice strong emotional reactions that feel disproportionate to the situation

  • Struggle with high-functioning anxiety or depression

  • Feel mentally exhausted from constantly pushing through

You do not need to be able to point to one specific “big” trauma for EMDR to be effective.

How EMDR Therapy Supports High-Achieving Professionals

EMDR therapy is particularly helpful for individuals whose perfectionist tendencies, high internal pressure, or chronic self-criticism keep them feeling stuck. It helps address the experiences underlying these patterns—not just the symptoms—so you can develop a greater sense of calm, confidence, and self-compassion while continuing to succeed in your work and life.

What Is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR is an evidence-based therapy originally developed for PTSD. It is now widely used to treat trauma-related concerns, anxiety, depression, and emotional distress. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR focuses on how experiences are stored in the brain and body, allowing healing on both a cognitive and physiological level.

A core principle of EMDR therapy is that traumatic experiences can become “frozen in time.” When memories are not fully processed, they may be stored in ways that cause present-day triggers to activate old emotional responses.

EMDR helps you process these experiences using bilateral stimulation—often guided eye movements—which activates both sides of the brain, similar to REM sleep, and allows memories to be reprocessed in a more adaptive way.

What Is Trauma?

When we hear the word trauma, we often think of major, life-changing events like physical or sexual assault, witnessing violence, or sudden loss. While these events can be traumatic, trauma is defined by how the nervous system experiences and responds, not by the event alone.

Trauma can also come from experiences such as:

  • Emotional abuse or neglect

  • Bullying or chronic criticism

  • Medical trauma or serious illness

  • Car accidents

  • Relationship breakups or endings

Because of this, trauma is something most of us experience at some point in our lives.

Many symptoms commonly labeled as anxiety, depression, ADHD, or chronic stress actually stem from unprocessed or unresolved trauma. When painful experiences are buried to keep functioning, the nervous system continues to hold onto them. Over time, this can lead to emotional exhaustion, reactivity, sleep difficulties, and a sense of disconnection from self and others.

If You’re Struggling with Trauma, it Doesn’t Have to Stay this Way.

Is EMDR Therapy Right for Me?

If you find yourself overthinking, overreacting, or stuck in patterns you can’t out-reason—especially if you’re tired of symptoms running your life—EMDR therapy may be a supportive next step.

Many high-achieving professionals live with high-functioning anxiety or depression—appearing capable, successful, and composed on the outside while feeling overwhelmed, self-critical, or disconnected internally. EMDR therapy helps address the experiences driving these patterns, rather than just managing symptoms, creating space for more ease, clarity, and internal steadiness.

Moving Away From Trauma Can Be Helpful

Healing from trauma isn’t just about processing the past—it’s about creating space for safety, self-discovery, and relief in the present. Anxiety can ease when you allow yourself to let go of the pressure to always do more or be more. You deserve a space where you don’t have to carry everything alone, and therapy can provide that support.

Through EMDR and trauma-informed therapy, you can gradually move away from the patterns that keep you feeling stuck, regain emotional balance, and reconnect with your authentic self. Therapy is a safe place to explore these changes at your own pace, with guidance and support tailored to your needs.

I offer a complimentary phone consultation so you can ask questions, get a feel for my approach, and see whether therapy feels like a good fit.
